The Tunisian Football Federation appointed coach Herve Renard to replace Sabri Lamouchi after the Tunisian national team suffered a 1-5 defeat to Sweden in their opening Group F match of the 2026 World Cup.
"The Tunisian Football Federation announces the appointment of Herve Renard as national team coach until the end of the 2026 World Cup," the Tunisian Football Federation said on its social media page, monitored.
Lamouchi was dismissed from his post after a 1-5 defeat to Sweden in their opening match at the BBVA Stadium, Monterrey, Mexico.
The result was a major blow that not only affected Tunisia's position in the standings, but also the team's overall confidence.
Following the poor results in the opening match, the federation immediately moved quickly to replace Lamouchi with Herve Renard, who took office on Tuesday (June 16) and immediately led the team's preparations, including providing facilities and finances equal to those of the previous coach.
