World Music Day, Google Search publishes a new Doodle celebrating dangdut

Google Indonesia displayed a special Doodle design themed on celebrating dangdut music on the main Search page, launched to coincide with World Music Day on June 21, 2026.

The illustration, custom-designed by designer Ardhira Putra, captures the essence of the dynamic, energetic dangdut stage. Ardhira, known for his work globally, expressed pride in visualizing Indonesia's musical identity on a global search engine.

"I created this doodle to inspire people to continue to be proud of our musical identity. For me, dangdut is a symbol of inclusivity, that despite our diverse backgrounds, we can all stand on the same stage, share joy, and sing together to celebrate Indonesia's rich culture," Ardhira said in a Google Indonesia press release .

According to Google Search data, searches for the "Popdut" genre increased by 30 percent, while "Disco Dangdut" increased by 20 percent. There was also a surge in keywords related to entertainment atmospheres, such as "Dangdut Cafe" (up 90 percent) and "Dangdut Concert" (up 30 percent).

People are also increasingly actively seeking references for expressions and movements. Searches for Dangdut icons, such as "Goyang Dombret singer" and "Inul Daratista song lyrics," have increased by over 100 percent.

With a Doodle celebrating dangdut music, Google Indonesia is adding an interactive feature to its Search page. Users can leverage AI-based technology to explore local music with greater precision.

Available features include Hum to Search, which allows users to search for songs simply by humming the tune, as well as a complete lyrics feature with translations to help understand the meaning of regional songs.
