The United States representative to NATO, Matthew Whitaker, announced that Washington wants its allies to buy American weapons.

Whitaker told Fox News on Monday that "this demand from allies stimulates American production, and American production stimulates the capabilities of allies."

He continued, saying that "the capabilities of the allies contribute to deterrence, and deterrence maintains peace."

Whitaker stated that the NATO summit in Ankara would be an "action summit," noting that "Ankara must provide us with momentum, specific benchmarks, and measurable objectives in terms of (military) capabilities and mechanisms that ensure the implementation of plans by the allies."

It is worth noting that the NATO summit in Ankara will be held on July 7 and 8.
