The Developmental Basketball League (DBL) Indonesia launched the DBL Super Teacher program for the 2026-2027 season as an effort to strengthen the role of teachers in mentoring student athletes and expand the impact of developing the school basketball ecosystem in various regions of Indonesia.
Azrul Ananda, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder of DBL Indonesia, that the program is one of the new innovations for the 2026-2027 season. He noted that teacher support, despite their crucial role in supporting the development of students participating in DBL competitions, has not been a primary focus.
"Teachers are a major factor in the DBL development team, supporting student athletes, and I have been deeply guilty of neglecting teachers," he said at the launch of the Honda DBL with Kopi Good Day Season 2026-2027, themed "Home of the Dreamers."
Azrul explained that every DBL participating team is required to have a teacher. The teacher's role is not only to accompany the team during matches but also to monitor academic progress and behavior, and ensure students fulfill their obligations within the school environment.
Through DBL Super Teacher, he continued, DBL Indonesia provides specialized training for mentor teachers. The program also provides opportunities for selected teachers to gain experience studying abroad, complementing similar opportunities already provided to players and coaches.
