Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives Coordinating for Economic and Financial Affairs Sari Yuliati said the groundbreaking ceremony for the Abadi National Strategic Project for Liquefied Natural Gas in the Masela Block, Maluku, is a new milestone in national energy sovereignty.
According to him, the project, with an investment value of hundreds of trillions, is a crucial momentum in strengthening national energy security, driving economic growth, and accelerating equitable development in eastern Indonesia.
He believes that the commencement of the Masela LNG PSN construction project is proof that President Prabowo Subianto's administration is serious about providing productive, long-term investment that will have an impact on the community's welfare.
The project is believed to have a multiplier effect on the national economy because it will create jobs, stimulate supporting industries, increase MSME activity, strengthen state revenues, and encourage infrastructure development in the Maluku region and its surroundings.
The energy sector, he continued, remains one of the main pillars in realizing the vision of Golden Indonesia 2045. Therefore, he encouraged the acceleration of national strategic projects to be carried out on time and on target, and to provide maximum benefit to the people.
"Indonesia has extraordinary natural resource potential. The challenge is no longer simply having energy reserves, but how to manage them professionally, transparently, sustainably, and for the greatest possible prosperity of the people," he said.
Sari commended the ministries, institutions, regional governments, and investors who have collaborated in realizing the Masela LNG National Project. She also assured that the House of Representatives (DPR) will exercise its oversight role in the project's future implementation.
"With good collaboration, I am optimistic that this project will be a major driver of Indonesia's economic growth in the coming decades," he said.
