The Indonesian U-18 men's national volleyball team defeated Kyrgyzstan in three straight sets, 25-23, 25-19, and 25-13 in the match for 9th to 12th place in the 2026 AVC Boys U-18 Volleyball Championship held at the Haikou Wuyuan River Gymnasium.
This victory fueled the hopes of Muhamad Rizgi Maulana and his friends to compete for ninth place in the Asian junior tournament.
Indonesian U-18 men's volleyball team coach Odyk Hermanto said the victory over Kyrgyzstan demonstrated that the players' mental game was starting to be honed, given that most of the players were experiencing international competition for the first time.
"Thank God, the players were able to achieve maximum results against Kyrgyzstan. From the start, I said that the team needed more playing time and extensive preparation," Odyk said in an official PBVSI statement received.
According to Odyk, strategically, the Garuda team has begun to find the tempo they expected during the training phase. They also appear more comfortable executing the prepared pattern.
