Perbati praises Anggie's mental for overcoming her opponent to win Asian Boxing gold

The Indonesian Boxing Association praised the mentality and courage of female boxer Anggie Intania Chalik when she overcame her opponent in the gold medal match for the women's light flyweight U19 (45-48kg) Asian Boxing U19 and U23, 2026.

"We see Anggie's extraordinary mentality. She's fearless, no matter who her opponent is, she just goes and beats them," said Perbati Secretary General Hengky Silatang in Jakarta on Thursday.

Anggie Chalik is the only athlete who won a gold medal for the Indonesian national boxing team in the Asian Boxing U19 and U23 events held at the Basket Hall.

The Papuan-Sumatra athlete secured a split decision victory over India's Gunjan in the final. Three judges scored the bout 29-28 for Anggie, while two judges had it in favor of Gunjan (29-28).

Hengky said that physically, Anggie's opponent was much taller, but Anggie showed extraordinary endurance and was able to carry out the fight plan until she succeeded in winning the duel.
