  The Indonesian Navy is preparing the Lampung Indonesian Navy Base to become one of the berths for Indonesia's first aircraft carrier, the Giuseppe Garibaldi.

This was confirmed by the Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service, Admiral Tunggul, during a press conference at the Navy Headquarters.

"So, Lampung is one of the bases prepared to accommodate the mooring and docking of the (aircraft carrier) Garibaldi," said Tunggul.

Lanal Lampung was designated as one of the bases for the Garibaldi aircraft carrier for several reasons, one of which is its strategic location.

Tunggul continued, saying that his team is currently preparing many things at the Lampung Naval Base to welcome Garibaldi, including developing the facilities and area of ​​the Naval Base to support the operational needs of the aircraft carrier.

Tunggul ensured that all facilities would be completed before the Garibaldi aircraft carrier arrived in Indonesia before the Indonesian National Armed Forces' anniversary in October 2026.

Previously, the Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Muhammad Ali, said that the Indonesian Navy would prepare several bases to be used as berths for the Giuseppe Garibaldi aircraft carrier.

"Personnel have been prepared, and will soon be sent to Italy. We may also prepare bases in several locations in Indonesia," Ali said during a press conference at the Kolinlamil Pier in Jakarta.
