The Indonesian Navy is sending a Republic of Indonesia warship and special forces to participate in joint combat exercises between Indonesia and Russia at the Orruda 2026 event in Vladivostok, Russia.
"We are sending various elements to participate in Orruda 2026, including the KRI I Gusti Ngurah Rai-332, helicopters, Kopaska troops, divers, and a medical team," said the Head of the Indonesian Navy Information Service , First Admiral Tunggul, during a press conference at the Navy Headquarters, Cilangkap.
Tunggul said the Indonesian Navy's participation aims to continue the joint training activities with Orruda that were previously held in Indonesia, specifically in the Java Sea in 2024.
In addition, Tunggul said, the activity also aims to strengthen military and bilateral relations between Indonesia and Russia.
He explained that the Indonesian Navy had made preparations to face the Orruda, starting from personnel selection to training in various combat maneuvers to be displayed in Russia.
Tunggul hopes that the Indonesian Navy's presence at the Orruda event will strengthen partnerships with the Russian military and raise Indonesia's name on the international stage.
Currently, KRI IGN-332 and its troops are still on their way to Russia to take part in Orruda 2026.
This international joint training event will be held from July 7, 2026 to August 18, 2026.
