The judge ruled that the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology's Chromebook procurement benefited Google

The panel of judges at the Corruption Court at the Central  District Court stated that the procurement of Chromebooks and Chrome Device Management  within the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology  for the 2019-2022 period benefited Google.

Chief Judge Purwanto Abdullah, while reading out the legal considerations for the verdict at the Central Jakarta Corruption Court on Tuesday, said the goal of benefiting Google was evident from a series of strategic meetings between defendant Nadiem Makarim, when he was a minister, and the company's executives since the beginning of his tenure.

"The goal of profiting from Google as a corporation is evident from a series of strategic meetings between the defendant, Nadiem, as a minister, and Google executives since the beginning of his term," Purwanto said.

According to the panel of judges, the Google referred to includes Google Asia Pacific and Google International as the corporation that owns the Chrome Operating System (OS), Google Cloud, and Chrome Device Management, which are part of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology's education digitalization policy.
