The 2026 Indonesia Human Capital and Beyond Summit is pushing for a paradigm shift in human resource management to become a driver of national productivity amidst the acceleration of artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
Chairman of the GNIK Steering Committee, Yunus Triyonggo, stated that Indonesia's labor productivity still faces a gap compared to other ASEAN countries. He stated that Indonesia's labor productivity is around 10 percent below the ASEAN average.
"Compared to Malaysia, our workers in Indonesia earn US$13–15 per hour. Malaysia already earns US$26–27,".
According to him, this gap demonstrates that improving human resource quality through conventional education and training is not sufficient. Strengthening competencies must be accompanied by the ability to create added value, adapt to technology, and increase productivity.
