Inter Miami announced that they have reached an agreement with Argentine Cristian Alberto "Kelly" Gonzalez to take over as head coach of the first team, and he will assume his duties as soon as he obtains the necessary work permits.
This decision comes after a series of disappointing results, with the team achieving only one point in the last five matches and exiting the League Cup early.
Guillermo Hoyos will continue to take charge of the team temporarily until Gonzalez and his coaching staff arrive. The club expressed its gratitude and special thanks to Hoyos for his commitment and full dedication to the club since taking over the job last April.
Kelly Gonzalez has a distinguished career as a player. He was born in the Argentine city of Rosario, the birthplace of Lionel Messi, and became famous during his years playing in the left wing position for his attacking abilities and fighting spirit.
Gonzalez had trials with a number of big European clubs and won the Spanish league title with Valencia, as well as the Italian league title with Inter Milan, in addition to winning the gold medal with the Argentine national team at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
After retiring, he turned to coaching and took charge of a number of Argentine clubs, including Rosario Central, Unión and Platense, before getting the opportunity to have his first coaching experience outside his country through Inter Miami.
