Russia: Eight people arrested on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack on a strategic facility in the Moscow region

The Russian Federal Security Service announced the arrest of 8 people accused of preparing a terrorist attack on a strategic facility in the Moscow region using 35 FPV-type drones.

The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) previously stated that in June 2026, Russian security services thwarted an attempt by Ukrainian intelligence to carry out a terrorist act at a strategic defense facility in the Moscow region, using 35 Ukrainian drones smuggled from the European Union and armed with powerful explosive devices.

The authority confirmed that the perpetrator of the terrorist operation and seven of those involved with him were arrested, and a criminal case was opened on charges of terrorist act and participation in the activities of a terrorist group.

She noted that one of the criminals, who offered armed resistance during his arrest, was neutralized.

She added that these drones were smuggled into Russia from Slovakia via Poland and Belarus with the help of European intelligence agencies.
