The Algerian president congratulates his country's women's national team following their historic achievement and qualification for the 2027 World Cup

 

Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune congratulated his country's women's football team, following their historic achievement of reaching the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations held in Morocco and securing qualification for the World Cup.

The Algerian national team advanced to the semi-finals after a strong and exciting quarter-final match, during which they managed to turn their deficit by one goal into a valuable 2-1 victory over their counterpart, the Ivory Coast national team.

This qualification is a historic milestone for women's football in Algeria, as it guarantees the national team its first-ever participation in the Women's World Cup finals, which will be hosted by Brazil from June 24 to July 25, 2027.
