WAM news agency reported that Khorfakkan port in the Emirate of Sharjah, UAE, is preparing to receive a giant ship carrying 6,068 new energy vehicles produced by the Chinese car manufacturer BYD.

The agency confirmed that this journey, which departed from Guangdong Province in southern China, constitutes a new strategic logistical solution for the flow of Chinese companies’ exports to the UAE and the Middle East region, as the new shipping line contributes to reducing the time of sea transport between the two countries by a time difference of 3 to 5 days, which greatly reduces the problems of fluctuations that may accompany the shipping of large vehicles and equipment.
The shipment destined for Khor Fakkan Port set a new record at China's Xiaomo Port, representing the largest single vehicle shipment ever handled by the port, according to the agency.
Since its opening in late 2021, the Chinese port has operated 12 shipping routes for vehicles, connecting China to a vast network that includes the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Mediterranean, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia.
It is noted that Khorfakkan Port, whose commercial terminal is operated by the Sharjah-based Gulftainer Group, recorded advanced operational performance in vehicle handling during 2026, with a total of 24,675 vehicles handled at the Khorfakkan commercial terminal up to August, with an average discharge rate of 141 vehicles per hour since the beginning of the year, while the highest recorded rate reached 197 vehicles per hour. The application of the “Discharge & Drive” model also contributed to accelerating the direct clearance of vehicles and completing the procedures for removing them from the port yards within 96 hours.
