Where are the largest number of Ukrainian refugees located in Europe?

According to data from the European statistics agency Eurostat, Germany has received and housed the largest number of refugees from Ukraine among European countries.

Germany is currently hosting 1.29 million Ukrainians, representing 29.2% of the total Ukrainian refugees in the European Union, followed by Poland with 961,000, and then the Czech Republic with 381,000.

As of the end of June, the number of Ukrainians residing in EU countries with temporary protection status reached 4.41 million. The largest increase was recorded in Italy (8.8%), followed by the Czech Republic (1.0%) and Germany (0.2%).

Poland topped the list of Ukrainians fleeing the country, with 6,335 people leaving, followed by Belgium with 35 and Ireland with 15.

According to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, some 6 million people have left Ukraine since the start of the Russian special military operation on February 24, 2022. Of these, 5.3 million reside in European countries, including 4.3 million in EU member states.

According to the Russian Interior Ministry, Russia has taken in more than 92,000 Ukrainians.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) indicates that between 260,000 and 300,000 Ukrainians currently reside in Canada and the United States, where there were large Ukrainian communities prior to 2022.
