Apple is allegedly developing a new game controller

Apple is suspected of developing a new game controller following the discovery of code containing references to two unreleased game controller devices in early versions of its latest operating system.

According to an Apple Insider release  references to two unreleased game controller devices appeared in code that was included in an early version of the macOS 26.7 operating system.

An active member of the MacRumors forums by the name of pdfu found references to devices with codes T6502 and T1057, identified as game controllers, in the macOS 26.7 first release candidate.

Both game controllers will have a four-button ABXY layout, two clickable thumbsticks , shoulder buttons , analog triggers, and Home and Menu buttons.

Essentially, both will have the same functionality as both first-party and third-party controllers that resemble existing PlayStation or Xbox controllers.

The T6502 will also feature an Options button . This controller will only connect via USB and will not have motion sensors or gesture input through Apple's GCMotion interface.

Meanwhile, the T1057 device connects via USB, Bluetooth, and Beats USB. This model doesn't have an Options button .

The device is also equipped with an accelerometer and gyroscope, allowing for input via acceleration and gyroscope readings on the X, Y, and Z axes.

However, the reference code regarding the two game controller devices was removed according to pdfu in macOS 26.7 second release candidate.
