Former Al Ahly player and current Valencia player Aliou Dieng was subjected to a fierce attack after Sunday's defeat against his rival Barcelona in the Spanish Football League competition.
The Mestalla stadium hosted the match between Barcelona and Valencia in the fourth round of the Spanish League.
Barcelona managed to achieve a resounding victory over Valencia with five goals to nil in a match that saw Aliou Dieng participate in the starting lineup for the home team.
The Valencia-focused newspaper "Super Deporte" launched a fierce attack on the team's players after the resounding defeat against Barcelona, with Aliou Dieng at the forefront.
Dieng received a rating of 2-10 from the aforementioned newspaper, which said of him: "Dieng is not a defensive midfielder, a playmaker, or a complete midfielder (zone to zone). He may have some skills, but they do not suit the current style of play at Valencia and are certainly not suitable for facing the current Barcelona team."
She added: "Including Dieng was a gamble by the coach that failed against Barcelona, just as happened during the matches against Celta Vigo and Deportivo La Coruña."
She continued: "However, Dieng produced a standout moment in the 65th minute when he brilliantly evaded pressure from Rafinha, Pedri and Firmin Lopez, in what was arguably the best piece of skill by a Valencia player throughout the match."
She continued: "On the other hand, Dieng confirmed that he is not a defensive player when he allowed Pedri to easily get past him in the fourth goal, as if it were just a normal training match."
