Prime Minister Andy Burnham has authorized British armed forces to support Saudi Arabia in the battle against the Houthi group that controls northern Yemen.

Earlier, British Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband had expressed support for Riyadh in talks with his Saudi Arabian counterpart amid attacks launched by the Houthi group from Yemen.
"We have received a request for military support from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and on the advice of the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State, I approved it last night for a defensive aerial refueling service; that is the agreement we have provided," Burnham was quoted as saying.
According to the reporter, PM Burnham emphasized that the agreement was temporary and only involved exclusive defense support.
the Houthi group announced that they had launched missile attacks on strategic targets in Riyadh as well as a number of facilities belonging to the Saudi Aramco oil company in the western region of Saudi Arabia in response to the attack on Yemen.
