The leaders of Britain, France and Canada issued a joint reaffirming their "commitment to protecting the two-state solution" amid the "systematic expansion" of Israeli settlements in the West Bank.

"A two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is essential for peace, stability and security in the Middle East and beyond," while the presence of settlements "constitutes a direct and urgent threat to this vision of peace."
This was conveyed by British Prime Minister Andy Burnham, French President Emmanuel Macron, and Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney in a joint statement.
"The settlements are illegal under international law," the three leaders said.
They also condemned the Israeli government's recent decision to continue construction in the E1 settlement and the "dramatic escalation of settler violence."
Accordingly, the three countries will ban imports of goods from settlements and implement targeted measures against settlements and those who facilitate or profit from their presence, the joint statement said.
