Joint officers from the Magetan Class IIB State Detention Center , the local police, and the Indonesian National Armed Forces conducted a nighttime raid on the inmates' rooms as part of an effort to increase security and provide early detection of potential security disturbances and prohibited items.
The Head of Class IIB Magetan Prison, East Java, Hadi Wijaya, said the raid was carried out as part of efforts to maintain security and order while preventing the entry of prohibited items into the prison environment.
"We are committed to ensuring that the local detention center remains safe and orderly. This inspection is part of our preventive efforts," said Hadi Wijaya during the raid on Thursday night.
During the raid, officers seized several items that should not have been in the inmates' rooms. These included scissors, nails, matches, forks, spoons, razors, glass cups, glass plates, glass perfume bottles, cards, and several other items.
Despite finding a number of these items, officers did not find drugs or cell phones in the joint raid.
"No prohibited items such as drugs, cell phones, or other items were found. We are committed to maintaining a safe environment at the Magetan Class IIB Detention Center, and we will not compromise on drugs or cell phones," Hadi said.
In addition to inspecting the rooms, officers also conducted random urine tests on 30 inmates. The results showed all of them were negative for drug abuse.
Similar tests were also conducted on five officers at the Magetan Class IIB Detention Center. All officers who underwent urine tests also tested negative.
Hadi emphasized that raids and surveillance will continue to be carried out periodically, involving the local police and TNI.
"This activity will of course continue to be carried out, involving many parties, such as the Police and the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI), to carry out joint raids to anticipate and maintain security and order at the Class IIB Magetan Detention Center," he said.
The detention center will handle the seized items in accordance with applicable regulations. Inmates found to be in possession of prohibited items will first be given a warning and counseling. If the violation recurs, more severe sanctions may be imposed in accordance with applicable regulations.
