Moroccan club Wydad Casablanca announced on Sunday the termination of the contract with their veteran star Hakim Ziyech, after only one season with the team.
Wydad wrote in a statement on its official Facebook page: "Wydad Athletic Club announces that it has reached an agreement with player Hakim Ziyech to terminate the contract between the two parties by mutual consent."
He added, "Hakim, this experience may not have lasted as long as we had hoped, but wearing the Wydad jersey will remain a special moment, and your presence among the club's components will remain part of an unforgettable story."
He added, "You were one of us, and you will always remain part of the Wydad Athletic Club family. Great clubs are not measured only by the years players spend within them, but by the impact they leave on their fans."
He added, "From the nation's affection, we say thank you for every moment you wore the club's jersey, and we wish you all the best and success in your future career, both on and off the field."
Hakim Ziyech (33 years old) has previously played for Ajax Amsterdam, Chelsea, Galatasaray, and other clubs.
The veteran player joined Wydad in the summer of 2025, and played 16 matches in all competitions for the team, during which he scored 9 goals.
