Argentine star Lionel Messi continued his brilliance with Inter Miami, after he created one goal and contributed to another during his team's 2-2 draw against Atlanta United in the American Professional League.
Inter Miami opened the scoring in the 32nd minute, when Brazilian Casemiro rose to meet a corner kick taken by Messi and headed it into the net.
The home side's lead lasted only a few minutes, as Miguel Almiron equalized for Atalanta.
Before the end of the first half, Messi’s leadership touch was evident as he gave Inter Miami the lead, as he sent a perfect through pass to his teammate Telsco Segovia, who skillfully set it up for Uruguayan striker Luis Suarez, who then put it into the net with his right foot, scoring his twelfth goal during the current season’s competitions.
Inter Miami looked set to take all three points, but Breel Embolo equalized for Atlanta from the penalty spot in the 87th minute.
Inter Miami is second in the Eastern Conference of Major League Soccer, 10 points behind leaders Nashville, with 11 games remaining for each team in the regular season.
