Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian said on Wednesday that his people are “victims of terrorism” by the United States, in his speech during the general debate of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.

Pezeshkian held up pictures of the late Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, and of more than 150 schoolchildren who were killed in the early days of the war.
In his speech, Pezeshkian criticized US President Donald Trump for describing Iran as a “terrorist” country, pointing out that the United States “killed Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and students in the city of Minab, and targeted a gymnasium with a cluster bomb.”
Pezeshkian said: “We were only defending ourselves, we are not terrorists. Our innocent people were the target of cowardly attacks and aggressions imposed on our country, and we defended ourselves with all our might. We were attacked by the United States and Israel.”
Pezeshkian asserted that Israel, which killed “more than 70,000 people in Gaza,” is “the real terrorist.”
He pointed to the double standards of the international community, which calls for the inspection of Iran, “while Israel possesses the atomic bomb and other weapons of mass destruction.”
He also vowed, before the United Nations General Assembly, that Tehran would not allow the Strait of Hormuz to be a launching pad for “aggression” against it.
He stressed that the Islamic Republic, which has been facing an American-Israeli war since February, has never initiated aggression against any other party.
In his speech, he said: “Iran has never been the aggressor, has never started a war, and has always shown its commitment to the negotiating table. War was imposed on us, but we have proven that we are not afraid to fight.”
Pezeshkian pointed out that Trump “should know that the resistance of the Iranian people will escalate in the face of sanctions, increasing pressure, and escalating bullying. We will never bow our heads, and we will never kneel.”
He added that peace will not be achieved on the battlefield while the conflict with the United States continues.
