But recent developments indicate that the dispute between the two parties has ended, after Ronaldo and Jesus held a meeting on Tuesday evening at the national team's residence in Malmo, Sweden, and the conversation ended positively, according to Portuguese media outlets, including RTP and Observador.
Ronaldo sat on the bench throughout Portugal's match against Norway, which ended in a 2-1 victory for the Portuguese team, even though Jesus had informed him before the match that he would not start, but might participate during the match.
Indeed, Ronaldo warmed up during the match, but the coach ultimately decided not to bring him on, explaining after the match that the course of the game did not require changing the striker on the field, given the performance the team had delivered.
This was the first time in many years that Ronaldo had remained on the bench without participating in an official match for Portugal, which made his decision to leave the field immediately after the final whistle and not go with his teammates to greet the fans receive widespread attention in the Portuguese media.

According to Portuguese reports, the aim of the move was to hold a meeting with Ronaldo and Jesus and contain the situation, before the pair's conversation preceded Proença's arrival and eased the tension.
All eyes are now on the Portugal-Denmark match, scheduled for tomorrow, Thursday, to see what role Ronaldo will play after overcoming the dispute.
There are still no guarantees that he will start, as Jesus has more than one attacking option after the win against Norway.
