Rafinha was forced to leave the field as a substitute during Brazil's resounding 4-2 victory over Australia on Tuesday, a match in which he scored one of the goals from the penalty spot.
The Brazilian Football Confederation confirmed in an official statement that the X-ray examinations that the Barcelona star underwent showed a slight muscle edema in the back of his right thigh.
The statement added: "As a precautionary measure and to ensure his speedy recovery, Rafinha will leave the Brazilian national team camp, and no replacement player will be called up for the friendly match against India scheduled for next Saturday at the end of the international break."
Rafinha is scheduled to return to Spain to undergo further examinations under the supervision of his club Barcelona's medical staff, in order to begin his treatment and rehabilitation program.
Rafinha is having an exceptional start to the season, shining brightly and displaying great attacking effectiveness by scoring 15 goals in 10 matches played with his club and national team.
