Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Lamhot Sinaga, encouraged the younger generation to get involved in developing micro, small, and medium enterprises by utilizing technological capabilities and creativity to expand markets.

"Young people should view MSMEs not just as objects to be helped, but as an economic sector with enormous room for innovation. This is where the younger generation can step in with their technological skills and creativity," Lamhot said at the Parliament Complex.
Lamhot made this statement while speaking at an educational event for students on public policy and the development of the people's economy.
According to him, changes in people's consumption patterns, which are increasingly connected to digital technology, are opening up opportunities for the younger generation to play a role in developing MSMEs.
He said that digitalization can be utilized by MSMEs to expand their marketing reach and build direct relationships with consumers.
Lamhot said the involvement of the younger generation is also needed to help MSMEs adapt to changing consumer behavior and increasingly open business competition.
According to him, national economic growth is not only supported by large companies because millions of MSMEs also carry out economic activities every day.
"Therefore, MSMEs must be an important part of how we view economic growth," he said.
He also invited the younger generation to understand that public policy can influence the development of the business world and the economic activities of people at the grassroots level.
Lamhot believes that efforts to encourage MSMEs to move up a class are not sufficient simply by providing additional capital.
MSMEs also need to improve their business management skills, utilize technology, ensure legal certainty, standardize products, and access to wider markets.
"If MSMEs are only given capital but not equipped with the skills to manage their businesses, the problem won't be solved. What's needed is an ecosystem so they can grow sustainably," he said.
