Three US outlets sue Trump after being barred from covering the White House

Three influential US are suing President Donald Trump's administration for revoking their ' accreditation to cover the White House.

"This morning, we informed the government that we will file suit to defend our First Amendment rights and to defend the principle that the government has no right to regulate what the press reports or publishes," the three media outlets said in a joint.

Alleging the right to free speech as stipulated in the First Amendment of the US Constitution, they said the revocation of their journalist credentials was done "without warning or due process" because the White House "didn't like their reporting."

"If left unaddressed, this will increasingly threaten press freedom and the public's right to independent journalism free from government intervention," their joint statement said.

President Trump announced that he was banning CNN, MSNOW, and Politico journalists from covering the White House after accusing them of "continuing to create fake news."

"I am proud to announce that I am immediately banning  Trump said via Truth Social.

Later that same day, Trump stated that there was a possibility that other media outlets could suffer the same fate as the three media outlets he banned.

"There may be other media outlets that will be like them... it all happened because of their various reports over the past few years. It's disgusting," he said.

Trump also said that the three media outlets continue to try to denigrate the Republican Party.
