1,000 tons of wheat flour aid arrives in the Gaza Strip

1,000 tons of wheat flour aid arrives in the Gaza Strip

Humanitarian aid in the form of 1,000 tons of wheat flour was successfully delivered to the Gaza Strip on Sunday, while the next shipment of the same amount is scheduled to arrive.

The head of the Gaza Strip Bakers Association, Abdel Nasser al-Ajrami, told RIA Novosti that all supplies will be distributed directly to bakeries with the support of the World Food Programme  and will not be sold on the open market.

"The entire supply will be allocated to bakeries with support from the World Food Programme, and this flour will not be sold on the market," al-Ajrami said.

Operational restrictions at border checkpoints and on the entry of humanitarian aid and food supplies have exacerbated the food crisis in the Gaza Strip—triggering the threat of famine among the local population.

Although the daily supply only covers the bakery's operational needs for one day, Gazans still face an urgent need for additional, ongoing supplies.

"To overcome the crisis and reopen the closed bakeries in the enclave, a wheat mill must be revived," al-Ajrami said.

The humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip remains dire due to damage to infrastructure and public services, disruption to medical facilities, and challenges in providing essential supplies to residents.

Although a ceasefire has been in effect since October 2025, the Israeli military reportedly continues to launch attacks under the pretext of targeting facilities and members of the Palestinian militant movement, Hamas.
