Hossain Hassan, in exclusive statements to the Egyptian website "Yalla Kora", commented on the decision to suspend him: "It is an honor for me," adding: "I leave matters to God Almighty, and we will see what will happen in the future."
The sanctions came in the wake of statements made after the Egypt-Argentina match in the round of 16 of the 2026 World Cup, which ended with the Pharaohs losing 2-3, amid accusations by the Egyptian side that FIFA and the refereeing team were favoring the Argentinian team.
According to the decision, Hossam Hassan, Ibrahim Hassan and Mostafa Zico will miss Egypt’s two matches against Malawi, scheduled for next November, as part of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
