Academics highlight the urgency of PSE's responsibility to provide information via AI

Kunto Adi Wibowo, an academic from the Faculty of Communication Sciences at Padjajaran University , expressed the urgency of the responsibility of electronic system organizers  in presenting accurate information to the public as users of artificial intelligence.

The Head of the Unpad Communication Science Doctoral Study Program delivered the message at a time when netizens were increasingly suspecting the government's restriction of information on forest and land fires  due to the information presented by Meta AI via Threads.

"Meta AI is not an absolute source of truth, and the answers are not official statements from Meta. Generative AI technology still has limitations and is very likely to produce misinformation. If a machine reports a government request to restrict content, the question is simple: what is the proof? Where are the documents or verifiable basis for the decision?" said Kunto.

Kunto stated that Meta, as a PSE, cannot escape responsibility when its AI products produce unverified information, especially if the information concerns government policies and the public's freedom of expression.
