The spread of strange posts on social media platforms with descriptions unrelated to the content of the post, whether it be a video clip or a picture, has reinforced this theory, as these posts contain descriptions in different languages promoting various things, and they mostly come from accounts run by artificial intelligence agents.

After about 6 years, this theory began to be proven true, as content generated by artificial intelligence robots invaded various communication platforms, whether the content was made entirely from this advanced technology or humans intervened to modify it.
But why does this theory worry internet experts to the point that universities and technology experts around the world are openly adopting it? And has the "dead internet" theory been realized in our time?
Public adoption of the theory
The concept and theory of the "dead internet" originated in secretive internet forums such as 4chan and Wizardchan between 2020 and 2021. However, up until that point, the theory did not have documented academic recognition, but this changed in 2023.
Author Bridget Dow first adopted the concept of the "dead internet" and the theory behind it in her book "Metaweb: The next level of the internet," stating that the usual internet created by humans has died and been replaced by artificial intelligence algorithms designed to manipulate humans, as part of a list of terms found in the book.
