Bintang/Sofyan have the opportunity to contribute their first gold medal in beach volleyball

Indonesian men's beach volleyball doubles pair Bintang Akbar and Sofyan Rachman Efendi have the opportunity to contribute their first gold medal in the sport for Indonesia at the Asian Games after securing their ticket to the final round of the 2026 Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games.

This certainty was obtained after Bintang/Sofyan silenced the resistance of the host Japanese doubles Kota Kurosawa/Taito Mizumachi in two straight games 21-19 and 21-18 in the semifinal round which took place at Hekinan Ryokuchi Beach Court.

The Red and White beach volleyball team's best achievement was winning a silver medal, contributed by Ade Candra Rahmawan/Muhammad Ashfiya at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games. Then, a silver medal was won by Agus Salim/Koko Prasetyo Darkuncoro at the 2002 Busan Asian Games, in addition to Agus Salim/Irilkhun Sofana winning a silver medal at the 1998 Bangkok Asian Games.

Starting the first game, Bintang/Sofyan tried to take over the tempo of the game.

However, Bintang/Sofyan's attack pattern also often encountered a dead end after the Japanese pair performed solidly.
