Carrick confirms Bruno Fernandes remains Manchester United captain

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has confirmed that Bruno Fernandes remains the team captain, despite the Portuguese midfielder criticizing the team's tactical approach following the Champions League defeat to Como 1907.

"He has led the team very well in many games and over many years, and he will continue to do so," said Carrick, as quoted on Manchester United's official website in Jakarta, Friday morning.

Carrick confirmed there was no decision to replace Fernandes as captain as the Portuguese player still plays a vital role in the team.

The statement was made after Fernandes came under scrutiny for his comments on Manchester United's tactical approach following their 1-4 defeat to Como 1907 in the Champions League match at the Giuseppe Sinigaglia Stadium.

Fernandes believes his team needs to play more bravely in putting pressure on opponents.

Following that match, Fernandes was not played when Manchester United suffered another 0-3 defeat to Bournemouth in the Premier League match, Sunday (25/10).

However, Carrick emphasized that the decision not to play Fernandes was a technical consideration for the match.

He also confirmed that the Portuguese national team midfielder remains committed to helping Manchester United improve their performance.

"He's a key player for this team. He's been and will remain key. We have to make a difference and push things in a better direction," said Carrick.

According to Carrick, Fernandes' commitment to the club remains unchanged despite Manchester United facing a difficult period.

"He's completely committed to this club and committed to making things better. For me, that hasn't changed," he said.

Carrick also emphasized that he and the players must work together to improve Manchester United's performance.
