Jesus, in comments reported by the British news agency PA Media, responded to a question about the players' stance towards him after Ronaldo's departure: "Yes, there is nothing that should prevent the group from standing with me."

The Portuguese coach added: "I understand the question, but what matters most is what we have to do. The things that happen do not divide the group; they have not divided us and they will not divide us."

Ronaldo announced on Wednesday that he was leaving the Portuguese national team camp, following discussions with Pedro Proença, president of the Portuguese Football Federation.

The Portuguese captain started in last week's 1-0 win over Wales, before sitting on the bench for Sunday's 2-1 victory over Norway, without playing in the match.

In Ronaldo's absence, the Portuguese national team continued its strong results in the UEFA Nations League, after achieving a big win over Denmark with a score of 4-2, raising its tally to 9 points from three matches and topping Group 4 in League A.

When Jesus was asked about the possibility of Ronaldo returning to the national team if the player wished to do so, the coach avoided going into details of the crisis and focused on his team's victory against Denmark.

He said: "It's a win with a high-quality performance, four goals and a top-class level. That cannot be ignored, it is more important than everything that happened."

Jesus concluded his remarks by emphasizing his focus on the next stage, saying: "That's what I want to focus on. When we return to Portugal, the players will fight at the Dragão stadium."

The Portuguese national team is preparing to face Norway again on Sunday in the UEFA Nations League.
