The Central Java National Sports Committee  is evaluating the implementation of the diving competition at the 2026 Provincial Sports Week  following the death of an athlete during a competition.
"An evaluation will certainly be carried out, and several things will be added to the competition procedures," said Central Java KONI Chairman Sudjarwanto.
He added that several things were added, including medical personnel at the competition location.

Furthermore, he added, the number of rescue boats for the sea diving event in the waters north of Semarang City was also increased with assistance from the Central Java Regional Police's Water Police.

Syabilla is suspected of being exhausted while competing in the sea diving event, which requires a distance of 3 km.

The day before competing in the sea diving event, Syabilla also competed in the diving event at the Jatidiri swimming pool in Semarang, which resulted in two gold medals from two different events.

Sudjarwanto added that the sea diving event at this Porprov was considered quite challenging.

In the same competition when the victim dived, he said, there were two other athletes who also claimed to be experiencing fatigue, one from Cilacap and the other from Magelang Regency.

"One of them admitted to being stung by a jellyfish, which also affected his condition during the race," he said.
