The plan was discussed at the 46th Percasi National Working Meeting in 2026. The agenda was attended by the majority of participants, specifically representatives from 32 of the 38 Percasi Provincial Administrators.
"This Chess League is designed to develop chess as a professional sport managed professionally. It is hoped that in the future, clubs will be established in various regions so that the spread of chess is not only concentrated on the island of Java," said Pandapotan Sinaga, Chairman of the Percasi National Working Meeting.
The competition is planned as a forum to build a sustainable chess competition ecosystem in the country
In the future, regulations and matters concerning the implementation of the National Chess League will be discussed again by PB Percasi and socialized again to members.
The competition will likely remain a single division, with the hope that in future years it will expand to two tiers: the Primary League and the Premier League.
In addition to discussing the National Chess League, Percasi also stated that it is currently focusing on preparations for the 2028 National Sports Week.
"One of the main decisions is to evenly distribute PON participants through a zone-based prequalification system, so that it reaches all Indonesian citizens," said Pandapotan Sinaga.
