However, modern Russian tanks are equipped with video cameras and screens in the fighting and command compartments. Thanks to these, the crew and tank commander can see what is happening in front of and behind the vehicle, enabling them to detect the enemy, aim weapons, and engage them.
The upgraded T-72 tanks and models of the T-90M tank have such a view, while the T-14 Armata tank has been equipped with screens in front of its crew members, who are sitting inside a protected armored capsule, displaying all the data necessary to carry out the combat mission.
Similar equipment has appeared in armored vehicles of previous generations.
As reported by the "Tankovy Soprat" channel, a T-62M tank in one of the armored units participating in the special military operation underwent such a modification.
A color video camera was mounted on its front shield, providing the driver with a "television" that improved forward visibility and could replace the primary monitoring device if it failed.
It is worth noting that the T-62M tanks are currently receiving, in addition to modern video cameras, additional equipment including improved protection, new targeting systems equipped with thermal cameras, more powerful engines, and other improvements that help them to operate effectively in special military operation conditions.
Similar additional “eyes,” which are installed directly in factories, appear on the chassis of infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and armored vehicles.
