According to him, the reason is not just inadequate thermal insulation, but also that the body reduces blood flow to the skin and extremities to conserve heat from internal organs. Therefore, blood vessels in the feet and hands constrict, causing them to cool down quickly. And if a person is sedentary, their muscles produce less heat.

He says: "Thermal insulation is only beneficial if it does not impede blood flow, and is accompanied by movement, dryness, and the absence of any underlying medical condition."

In addition, tight socks or shoes can put pressure on the feet, and in this case, wearing an extra layer of clothing won't help and may even make the problem worse. Keeping the feet dry is also important, because if the feet sweat, the socks will become damp and lose their ability to retain heat.

He says: "Shoes should be loose, fit perfectly, and not constricting. Socks should be made of wool or special thermal materials, and not tight. It is important to keep the feet dry."

According to him, if a person feels cold in their feet only when outdoors or in a cold room, and then they warm up within 10-30 minutes after moving to a warmer place or returning to the same room, this is usually normal. However, persistent coldness even in warm environments, numbness, tingling, swelling, skin discoloration, leg pain when walking, and wounds that don't heal well are cause for concern.

He says: "A persistent feeling of cold may be related to anemia, hypothyroidism, diabetes, and vascular and nerve disorders. Feeling chilled accompanied by weakness and weight gain warrants a thyroid examination, and paleness of the face and shortness of breath warrant an anemia examination."

According to him, if there are no alarming symptoms, a person can wear loose shoes, keep their feet dry, and increase movement.

He says: “A warm, not hot, bath is helpful for warming the body. Alcohol is not a good way to warm up; it gives a feeling of warmth by dilating blood vessels, but it also increases heat loss. You can start by consulting a general practitioner, and then, if necessary, a vascular surgeon, an endocrinologist, or a neurologist.”
