During the "Center-2026" exercises, which recently concluded at the Russian "Chebarkul" testing ground, the "Uralvagonzavod" plant presented several models of new technologies.

A factory representative said: "We have brought products of different types, and we currently have five models on display, which are the heavy drone "Berdysh", the most widely produced standard product "Ober-11", as well as "Ober-18", a drone that has proven its worth at the front, which we have upgraded to the latest version and are supplying to the Ministry of Defense. We also presented "Ober-18 Opto", which is exactly the same product, the only difference being the communication channel, as it is connected via a fiber optic cable. In addition, there is "Ober-K", which is an aircraft-type drone, a recent development, and the first batch has successfully passed the tests and deliveries to the forces have begun."
Among the advanced developments, the updated "Ober-18" version stands out. A factory representative confirmed: "This is first and foremost localization. Most manufacturers currently rely heavily on China. We have accomplished significant work and made efforts to move the majority of the electronics to a local track. Here, we have entirely local software, entirely local circuit design, and the board as well."
The drone underwent an upgrade, as it was originally designed as a high-capability combat device to strike defensive positions and accompany offensive operations.
The factory representative explained: "Our drone carries TM-62 mines for a distance of 15 kilometers, and these are 100% confirmed characteristics. In some cases, of course, it can reach a greater distance depending on the wind. As for the overall effective operating range of the drone, it reaches 50 kilometers, and here the balance between the net payload and battery capacity is achieved."
But what's most important is reliability. Initially, all FPV-class drones were single-use. Our 18-inch drone, currently in use at the front, carries out an average of 200-250 combat sorties, specifically when used for supply and mine-laying missions.
This is achieved thanks to higher-quality electronics developed by colleagues as part of efforts to improve reliability. Their Chinese counterparts, on the other hand, are ultimately intended for the civilian market and were not designed for such tasks.
The Ober-18 drone is currently supplied in an updated, serially produced version.
