In this context, Riyadh International Airport announced that flights would resume on Sunday after a two-week closure following attacks by the Houthis on the Saudi capital, while the group warned of further attacks.

Flightradar24, a website specializing in tracking flights, showed a plane taking off from Riyadh airport early Sunday morning, heading to the Saudi city of Jeddah.

The Houthis have escalated their attacks on Saudi Arabia, which supports the Yemeni government, this month, including strikes on Riyadh airport, one of which killed 13 people and injured hundreds more on October 10, in the deadliest attack on the kingdom’s territory in more than a decade.

For his part, the Houthi military spokesman, Yahya Saree, said: “The Yemeni armed forces renew their warning to all international, regional and local airlines, employees and passengers against traveling through Khalid Airport in Riyadh because it is unsafe as it is a military target for our forces.”

He added: “The Saudi regime bears the consequences of any operation of the airport and what will result from that, because the armed forces will continue their operations towards it and it will never be safe.”
