Araghchi Iran has no plans to hold talks with US officials

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that Tehran has no plans to hold talks with United States (US) officials, dismissing reports to the contrary as baseless.
Araghchi said that Iran has carefully reviewed the message sent by US Vice President JD Vance to Iran's top security official, Mohsen Rezaei, stating that the matter is currently under review by the relevant authorities.

He stressed that no talks were planned with US officials, and claims to the contrary were false.

He added that Iran currently sees no need for talks with the US and that Iran's conditions are clear.

He also noted that communication remains ongoing with Qatar and Pakistan, which is acting as a mediator.

He stressed that a decision on whether negotiations would be conducted directly or indirectly would only be taken after the US agreed to Iran's terms.

Araghchi said Vance's message, along with US efforts to open dialogue and reach a broader understanding, could be seen as a positive step.

Regarding the proposal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz within seven days, provided that seven Iranian conditions are met, Araghchi said: "Qatar requested that the time required to implement our proposal be shortened to five days. Currently, a proposal is being discussed to shorten the period to two days."

Possibility of war

Araghchi stated that his country does not rule out the possibility of war, while emphasizing Iran's readiness to face any scenario.

He explained that the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz depends on the acceptance of the new transit route established by Iran and Oman, as well as the closure of other alternative routes.

He also said his country is demanding that the US restore sanctions exemptions related to Iranian oil sales and unfreeze all frozen Iranian assets, including those in Qatar.

citing US officials, reported that Vance had sent a message to Rezaei at the direction of US President Donald Trump to revive peace talks.

Trump denied the reports, stating that Vance's role was limited to helping provide Iran with needed medical supplies.
