The "Samarkand Declaration" the launch of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Uzbekistan The 22nd meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) leaders kicked off in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. The summit will be attended by leaders of member states, led by the Russian and Chinese presidents. The heads of the observer countries, such as the Belarusian president, and the invited countries, such as the Turkish president, also participate.  The 22nd meeting of leaders of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) countries kicked off Friday in the historic city of Samarkand, Uzbekistan.  The summit will be attended by the leaders of the member states, namely Russian President Vladimir Putin, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Kazakh Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, Kyrgyz President Sadr Jabarov, Tajik President Emomali Rahman, Prime Ministers of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif and India Narendra Modi, in addition to the President of the Uzbek host country Shaukat. Mirziyoyev.  The leaders of the observer countries will also participate, they are Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, Mongolian Okhnangen Khorsukh, and Iranian Ibrahim Raisi.  Also participating are the heads of the invited countries, namely, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkmenistan Sardar Berdymukhamedov and Azerbaijani Ilham Aliyev.   Dyaev delivered a speech at the official opening of the meeting to the leaders of member states, where he provided information about the meeting's agenda and wished the summit success.  It is expected that the meeting will continue later with the participation of the leaders of the observer and invited countries.  It is expected that about 30 documents will be accepted that will develop the activities of the organization, increase the volume of regional trade and develop cooperation in areas including industry, transport, joint projects and activities in the green economy, innovation, digital technologies, logistics, agriculture and medicine.  The leaders will adopt the "Samarkand Declaration", a basic document that includes the positions of the OIC countries towards the most prominent regional and global problems.  This declaration aims to improve cooperation among the OIC countries, further improve regional stability and security, sustainable economic development, improve transport corridors and deepen cultural relations.  The organization, which was established in June 2001, includes eight countries: Russia, China, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Pakistan, India and Uzbekistan, while Turkey was granted the status of a "dialogue partner" within the organization in 2012.
