Algerian Army Commander: We help African countries settle their security situation without interfering in their affairs

Algerian Army Commander: We help African countries settle their security situation without interfering in their affairs Algeria - The Algerian Army Chief of Staff, Lieutenant-General Said Chenegriha, said today, Monday, that his country prefers an approach based on helping African countries that suffer from security problems without interfering in their affairs. Chanegriha made it clear, in a speech during his visit to the fourth military region in the south of the country, that Algeria has always stood by the African countries, especially by accompanying them in settling their security conditions, by preferring internal solutions, respecting the sovereignty of states and refusing to interfere in their internal affairs. The first team praised what he described as the good offices of the President of the Republic aimed at strengthening Algeria's regional and continental role through its constant endeavor to be a factor of stability in the region and to contribute to the sustainable development of neighboring countries. He also recalled the sacrifices and heroism of the martyrs of Algeria, who he said "gave the meaning of sacrifice its true meaning and made their pure bodies a bridge through which Algeria crossed to the mainland of independence, freedom and full sovereignty." Chanegriha’s words come days after Algeria hosted representatives of the “Coordination of Azawad Movements” to discuss the peace agreement signed in 2015 in Algeria, many of whose clauses have not been implemented, especially those that provide for measures to establish decentralization in the country’s administration, and the integration of former rebels into the army. The Coordination of Azawad Movements, which brings together former rebels, announced in December that it had suspended its participation in implementing the agreement, under the pretext that the ruling military council “still lacks the political will” to implement its provisions. For weeks, international mediation attempts have been taking place, in which Algeria plays a prominent role, to revive the peace agreement.
