Amorim: MU should have done better against ASEAN All Stars

Manchester United (MU) coach Ruben Amorim said his team should have played better when they were defeated by ASEAN All Stars in their first pre-season match of the season, at Bukit Jalil Stadium, Malaysia.

In that match, the winning goal for ASEAN All Stars was scored by a player from Myanmar, Maung Maung Lwin in the 71st minute.

"Of course, we have to do better. We were slow and we have to be able to win every training and game," Amorim said after the match, as quoted from the club's official website, Thursday.

Despite opening the Red Devils' pre-season with a defeat, Amorim admitted he was grateful that none of his players were injured in this match.

"The important thing is that no one was injured, with the weather like this and everything we've done to get here today. But, again, that's no excuse. We have to do better," he added.

The Portuguese coach was then asked by a local broadcaster if there was a player in the ASEAN All Stars team that caught his attention. Amorim admitted that it was actually difficult to answer who the player was.

However, he later said there was one name that caught his attention. It was Sergio Aguero, a Malaysian player who played in the ASEAN All Stars' midfield for 54 minutes in the match.

"I think Sergio Aguero is a good player, he controls the midfield quite well," said Amorim.

Aguero, who captained the team that match, is a Malaysian international despite being born in La Rioja, Argentina. The player who shares the same name as the former Manchester City and Argentina forward, has been playing for Malaysian club Sri Pahang FC this season, scoring five goals and three assists in 25 games.
