PT Kereta Api Indonesia/KAI stated that Bekasi Station is a strategic integration node that strengthens service transformation and supports the national railway modernization strategy to improve connectivity and mobility of the community in a sustainable manner.
Vice President of Public Relations KAI Anne Purba said Bekasi Station continues to show its movement as a strategic transportation node in East Jakarta. In addition to serving daily Commuter Line customers, the station is also an important boarding and alighting point for Long Distance Train (KA JJ) users.
"This dual function is what makes Bekasi Station not just a transit station, but the main mode in the urban and intercity mobility system," said Anne, in Jakarta, Thursday.
He explained that the increase in Bekasi Station users was inseparable from its function which is now more complex and strategic.
"Bekasi is now not only a buffer city, but a center of movement. Its role in the Commuter Line system and long-distance trains is very important in distributing passenger flow in the eastern corridor," said Anne.
He said the data recorded a spike in Commuter Line users at Bekasi Station, from 9,426,792 in 2023 to 10,890,061 departing passengers and 10,299,789 arriving passengers in 2024.
"This means that there was an increase in departures of around 15.5 percent and a decrease of 9.3 percent within one year," he said again.
