Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said the settlement decision "strengthens our grip on Judea and Samaria," using the biblical term for the West Bank, "consolidates our historical right to the Land of Israel, and represents a crushing response to Palestinian terrorism."
Katz added that this constitutes a "strategic step that prevents the establishment of a Palestinian state, which would endanger Israel."
Israel has already established more than 100 settlements across the region, housing some 500,000 settlers.
Settlements range from small outposts perched on hilltops to developed residential communities comprising apartment buildings, shopping malls, factories, and public parks.
Meanwhile, Israeli occupation forces blew up a house in Nablus at dawn on Thursday.
Large forces of the occupation army stormed the city of Nablus at midnight, besieging a residential building in the Salam neighborhood in the west of the city, forcing its residents out into the open, in preparation for the demolition of the apartment of the martyr Jaafar Mona.
Later, the occupation forces forced a large number of residents of apartments and houses in the nearby area to evacuate, planted explosives in Mona's house, and blew it up.
Occupation bulldozers also demolished a house and razed a garden in the village of Al-Mughayyir, northeast of Ramallah.
Security sources told the Palestinian News Agency (WAFA) that Israeli bulldozers demolished the home of Anwar Samih al-Na'san, forcing his family to evacuate. They added that they also razed the garden belonging to the village council.
The village of Al-Mughayyir has been subjected to repeated attacks by settler groups, including the setting of fires to wheat-planted lands in the Rafid Plain, and attacks on farmers and harvesters while they work on the land.
The Israeli occupation authorities also notified the demolition of a house in the Al-Bustan neighborhood in the town of Silwan, south of occupied Jerusalem.
The Jerusalem Governorate reported that the occupation authorities issued demolition notices to the home of Jerusalemite Rashed al-Qamari in the Bustan neighborhood of Silwan. The home, which was built 10 years ago and houses him, his wife, and his three children, was demolished.
During April , the occupation authorities carried out 73 demolitions targeting 152 facilities, including 96 inhabited homes, 10 uninhabited ones, and 34 agricultural and other facilities. These demolitions were concentrated in the governorates of Tubas (59 facilities), Hebron (39), and Jerusalem (17).
In parallel with the annihilation of Gaza, the occupation army and settlers escalated their attacks in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, resulting in the deaths of at least 972 Palestinians, the injury of approximately 7,000, and the arrest of more than 17,000, according to Palestinian data.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with full American support, has been waging a genocidal war in Gaza, leaving more than 177,000 Palestinians dead or wounded, most of them children and women, and more than 11,000 missing, in addition to hundreds of thousands displaced.
