Clinical psychologist and graduate of the University of Indonesia, Phoebe Ramadina, M.Psi., Psychologist, said that parents have a crucial role in preventing early marriage.
When contacted Phoebe conveyed the importance of parents providing an understanding to their children that marriage requires psychological maturity and financial readiness.
In addition, according to him, parents should build an open and empathetic communication pattern so that children feel comfortable discussing their problems when facing social pressure or wanting to make big decisions such as getting married.
In this way, parents can provide input so that children can think carefully before making big decisions for their lives.
Phoebe also said that parents need to provide information about reproductive health to children according to their age so that children can avoid problems.
"In many cases, early marriage is seen as a quick solution to unplanned pregnancies, whereas this can be prevented through comprehensive and age-appropriate sexual education, which should start from the family environment," he said.
