Ambon Prison provides metal craft skills to inmates

Ambon Class IIA Penitentiary provides metal craft skills training in the form of making beds from iron for the independence of inmates.

"This bed-making activity isn't just about technical skills, but also about building character, discipline, and self-confidence. We hope that inmates will return to society with useful skills and be ready to make positive contributions," said the Head of the Class IIA Ambon Prison, Herliadi.

According to him, the activity is an implementation of the acceleration of the policy of the Director General of Corrections at the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, Agus Andrianto, who emphasizes strengthening and empowering inmates in producing products of economic value, especially in the MSME sector.

The divan-making process includes cutting the iron pipe, drilling, welding, and assembling it using steel brackets to ensure a sturdy and stable product. In the past three days, inmates have successfully completed a 2x1 meter iron divan combined with plywood, commissioned by a prison officer's family.

"Through this activity, they learn production techniques and develop a positive work ethic, which is an essential asset for life after release," he explained.
