Authorities urge compliance with permitted capacities to avoid contagion

Mexicali, January 15.- With the orange epidemiological traffic light in Baja California, capacity for non-essential activities will remain at 50 percent to curb transmission chains.

The Ministry of Health's scientific committee urged mandatory use of face masks in establishments and recommended constant monitoring of CO2 levels to maintain optimal ventilation, he indicated.

In a statement, they urged people who have not yet gotten vaccinated against COVID-19 to visit the various vaccination sites in their municipalities, in order to take care of their health and prevent the disease from worsening if they contract the virus.

At this point in the pandemic, it is important to follow these measures and, above all, keep in mind that the Omicron variant is highly contagious. However, most vaccinated patients have mild symptoms.

The Head of Epidemiology, Óscar Efrén Zazueta Fierro, reported that at the close of January 14, 1,476 cases were confirmed in the entity , of which 588 are from Tijuana, 450 from Mexicali, 232 from Ensenada, 62 from Tecate, 115 from Rosarito, 29 from San Quintín and 0 from San Felipe. 

In the same period, 33 deaths were reported: 17 in Tijuana, 8 in the state capital, 7 in Ensenada, and one in San Quintín.

Baja California has 9,408 active cases, of which 9,178 are being treated on an outpatient basis; Mexicali has 2,590 active cases, Tijuana 3,890, Ensenada 1,601, Tecate 515, Rosarito 597, San Quintín 157, and San Felipe 58. 

Regarding hospital occupancy due to COVID-19, the Ministry of Health remains at 58% and the IMSS reports 66%. Overall, the SS reports 50.86% occupancy, and IMSS clinics report 54.81%.
